Transition Program Ministry

As orphaned teens complete high school, they face an uncertain future. Upon departure from the orphanage, many of them are left on their own in the streets. With very few practical skills and no support system, they end up turning to petty crime and prostitution in order to survive. The Transition Program is one that provides temporary shelter for orphaned boys and girls of this age. These young adults progress through a phase program that provides basic education and life skills, grounded in Biblical principles.

Boys Transition House

The Boys Transition House is located in the rural village of Nencelesti. Several classes of young men have successfully completed the Transition House Program and are currently employed throughout Romania as house builders, bakers, mechanics, and metal workers. These young men have also found new places of residence and are involved with their local churches. We are excited for these young men as they begin this new phase of their lives.

We recently began a mentoring program for the boys that will match men from the U.S with the young men in our Transition Program. We've named it Unu Doi Unu (One 2 One). This ministry encourages Christian men to teach, inspire, mentor, and befriend these young men as they progress through our program.

Girls Transition House

The Girls Transition House is located in Snagov, a community surrounded by a beautiful lake and national forest. Our first group of girls graduated from their program in June, 2006. Since then, several dozen girls have completed the Girls Transition Program. While in our house, the girls learn life skills, receive job training, and are mentored. Upon the completion of the program, the girls move into apartments in Bucharest and are responsible for attending a church and making good decisions.

Getting Involved

H2H is working hard to give these young adults Godly instruction that will transition them into the next phase of their lives, but we still need your help. Please pray for direction as we find staff and teachers. Pray for wisdom as we interview and accept young adults into the program. Consider giving a special gift to help us continue to maintain the programs. Pray about making a monthly commitment to operate one of the homes.
