ABOUT US
Due to a corrupt government and a bad economy, Romania has been left with thousands of abandoned children living in government institutions. Living in these government institutions has left these children unloved and neglected, in need of medical, educational, and spiritual development.
Throughout the Scriptures we see God’s concern for the poor, widows, and orphans. As an organization based on Biblical principles, we are committed to caring for the physical and emotional needs of poor and abandoned children as we share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative word of God, without error in the original languages.
We believe in one God manifesting Himself in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal and imminent return.
We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for the salvation of the lost and that this salvation is wholly of grace through faith.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling, people are enabled to live godly lives.
We believe that the Church consists of all who trust in Christ and are true believers in His atoning death.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of judgment and separation from God.
We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Nicu: I was born in Bucharest, Romania and spent nine years at the orphanage in Periș. After I left I entered the Boy’s Transition Program with Heart to Heart. After I graduated I worked at an auto body shop before I joined the H2H staff full time in the fall of 2020. Now I’m the administrator of the Boy’s Transition Program. In my free time I like to fish and play football (soccer).
Melissa: I’m originally from Snellville, Georgia and I joined the Heart to Heart staff full time in June of 2015 after coming on short term trips with H2H for three years. Before I moved to Romania I was a middle school band director, a 1st grade teacher, and a mental health therapist. Now I provide mental health counseling to kids in the orphanage system. I’m also a Registered Play Therapist (the only one in Romania!), a Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional, and a Trauma Competent Caregiver Trainer. Nicu and I married in 2020 and, while I’m “mom” to lots of kids at the orphanage, now I’m the bio mom to Oliver who was born in 2021. In my free time I like to knit, read, and take walks.
Oliver: Oliver was diagnosed at 18 weeks in utero with chylothorax and had surgery to place shunts in his chest…all before he was ever born! He was born six weeks early and spent 30 days in the NICU. Today he is a healthy, happy toddler with lots of spunk! He’s outgoing and loves all sports (soccer, American football, basketball, bowling, ping pong, golf, billiards, swimming…). His favorite foods are mac and cheese and hot dogs and he likes to watch Blippi, Sunny Bunnies, Ms. Rachel, anything sports related on YouTube Kids.

I was born in Turda, Romania and grew up in Washington. I graduated from Whitworth University with a degree in Sociology. Prior to serving with Heart 2 Heart, I worked for a few years as a paraprofessional in Special Education at the middle school and high school level. I also worked in before and after school programs at the elementary level for about 6 years.
I find pleasure in going for a walk or light jog, drinking a coffee, reading, going on a new adventure with friends, and spending time with friends and family. I absolutely love to travel. And I love to go to the beach or lake. In my spare time I like to play guitar and practice the piano.
Favorite foods: my mom’s cooking, Chinese, Thai; Italian; and Greek and Middle Eastern foods, I don’t like spicy (as in chili spice or habanero level spice) foods or sauces
